Led the charge in getting buy-in from developers, product owners and management to take the time to build and then implement a design system. The design system allows us to move faster because devs rarely need to write CSS, increasing their effectiveness and the over all site cohesiveness.
Process
Researched how to make this happen with no time and no dedicated team.
Met daily with marketing and UX team on each part of the system until every part was agreed upon.
Met again about each part once they were designed.
Managed design system backlog and wrote all stories.
Put on my coding gloves and learned sass.
Helped code and design review all design system stories.
Helped developers with the conversion process by presenting the design system and helping to write their stories.
So far, the design system is being implemented by the UX team and our two front end teams and is already proving to increase our velocity.
